For my husband’s birthday in March, we wanted to escape the Amsterdam cold weather. We decided to take a four day trip to Barcelona, which has a much more mild temperament during the month! We had such a great time, probably because of our hotel location, blend of activities with downtime to stroll, and delicious food. We can’t wait to go back and explore more one day!

Where to stay in Barcelona:
We loved staying at the Le Meridian Barcelona in Las Ramblas. It is a Marriott Bonvoy member, so we were happy as we like to stick to the chain to accumulate rewards points. The rooms were clean, spacious, and we adored the location. It was walking distance to the Las Ramblas area which is full of shops, restaurants, and a vibrant life! It was also walking distance to the Barcelona Cathedral.
The location made it easy for us to go out for the day, and also come back for the kids naps and downtime, before heading out again.

What do do in Barcelona:
Barcelona is full of wonderful things to do for adults and kids!
Cathedral of Barcelona: Our kids loved running around the front of the cathedral, chasing pigeons and enjoying the street entertainment in the square.
Sagrada Familia: This venue is beautiful, but our kids thoroughly enjoyed the playground that is directly in front of Sagrada Familia. We were able to enjoy the views while the kids swung and rode the slides. Additionally, we booked a photo shoot at this site. It cost 35 euros, and took 15 minutes. We received almost 20 photos within 24 hours. It was not a fancy photoshoot, but exactly what we needed with two toddlers who have no interest in photoshoots. For reference, we had to take a taxi from our hotel in Las Ramblas to get here.
Park Guell: Park Guell is beautiful and has lovely views! We spent a few hours browsing around with our kids. They are strict with their ticket access, so make sure to e book earlier. We had to take a taxi from our inn in Las Ramblas to get right here.
Shop and browse Las Ramblas: Our favorite family past time was roaming around Las Ramblas shops, stopping to eat churros and gelato, and enjoying the energy!
What to eat in Barcelona:
Although my husband and I enjoy Tapas, we found that our toddlers did not. Our favorite spots ended up being international cuisine or brunch spots with Western type dishes. They were all delicious, and our kids ate all these places listed below!
