We have been fortunate to travel to over 30 countries with our littles during the baby and young kid stages. One of the most essential aspects of traveling is packing just the right amount. Here are favorite travel gear items when traveling with 3 kids under 5.

1. Transport Gear (Strollers and Baby Carriers):

For transport at the train station or airport, we take one of our two strollers –  the Cybex Gazelle or BabyZen YoYo.

Cybex: The Cybex Gazelle Double Stroller is larger and allows for more configurations. The configuration we have been using recently is a bassinet for the baby, a toddler seat for the two-year-old, and a buggy board for our four-year-old. Because of how large this is, we prefer this for road trips or train travel. If we feel like it will be truly beneficial for a destination, we would be willing to take this on a flight as well. Visit my Amazon Shop for the different pieces we have for this bike.

YoYo: The BabyZen YoYo is a more compact single travel stroller. When we take this, we also take the buggy board attachment. The stroller itself can be folded quite compactly, and even fit in the overhead bin of a plane. We usually store the buggy board next to the stroller. When we use this stroller, we usually take our baby carriers with us, in case both kids want to be seated.

Doona: Our more recent addition to our travel collection is the Doona car seat stroller. It makes thing easy for when traveling with a baby, where the destination will require a carseat! I love how lightweight it is and easy it is to convert it. However, I don’t love the lack of storage space. On my to do list is to purchase a storage bag for the front handle of the Doona. I love this carseat cover for the Doona that goes on like a backpack for flights.

Tush Baby Carrier: The TushBaby is for the toddler (when our older child wants to sit/nap in the YoYo), and is a more comfortable way to hold her than to hold without the carrier. It takes the weight off the arms as much, as her weight is sitting on the carrier seat. If interested in this product, use my coupon code: SHAINAREHMANN.

Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier: We adore the Baby Bjorn carrier for the baby. I used it for my second baby and have started to use it for our third. This time, I even have the smaller size for a younger baby. It is secure, cozy, and allows me to be hands free.

Fly Away Sleeper: Sleeping on a flight is a core challenge. Thankfully, there are products that help along with this! We recently purchased the Fly Awake Kids Bed, and it was a game changer for our long flight experience! For a $10 discount, use my code: SHAINAREHMANN.

It meets the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) strict guidelines for inflight comfort devices. Not all airline staff are familiar with the guidelines of using this device. On our outbound flight, the airline said it was allowed, but not on take-off and landing. On our inbound flight, on the same airline, the staff tried to have us deflate it for the whole flight. However, after talking to them, they agreed to let us use it. Go prepared with knowing the airlines policy on it, and be prepared to inform the staff and simply use if after take-off and before landing.

2. Activities for Toddlers/Young Kids:

Although our baby is still in the “sleeping most of the time” stage, our older kids are in a “constantly need to be entertained” stage. Listed below are the activities that have been consistently success at keeping the kids busy during transit, at restaurants, or down time in hotels.

3. Eating:

Even going to restaurants when we are not traveling feels like a huge effort. Determining which gear we need to minimize the disaster we create at restaurants has been handy. We never eat out without the following items.

4. Lounging:

5. Bathroom:

Having the right gear and finding the balance between overpacking and underpacking truly enhances the ease of traveling with little kids! For more links, visit my Amazon Shop on my site.
